The Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi, seems to be finding it difficult to digest the buzz created by Apple’s launch of iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR on September 12 in California’s Cupertino. The company has thus decided to face the iPhone’s launch with it’s own strategic bundled offer. The company has initiated a strategic bundled offer to bring an option before the consumers before buying a newly launched iPhone. The strategic bundled offers are named as XR Suit, XS Suit and XS Max set which obviously look identical to the names of the newly launched iPhones. The company has set the price of each bundled offer similar to that of the starting price of the corresponding iPhone. The company, basically, has a laptop, smartphone, mi fitness band and audio product, in the bundled offer. The strategic offer, definitely, is made to destract the potential new iPhone buyers from iPhone and attract them to buy the Xiaomi products instead.
The bundled offer includes Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air, Mi Band 3 (fitness band) and Mi Bluetooth Mini headset, priced at CNY 6,499 (Approx. INR 68,200). This is lesser than the price of the 64GB iPhone XR, which is USD 749 (Approx. 76,900). We do not know if this offer will mean anything to a hardcore iPhone lover but will definitely make a difference to the other consumers looking for an option before going for the newly launched iPhone XR. However, since Xiaomi rules major market share of the Chinese smartphone market, it may succeed in acquiring some of the potential iPhone XR buyers.
The XS Suit packs Mi Mix 2S smartphone, 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air, Mi Band 3 and an Mi Bluetooth Mini headset, set at a price of CNY 8,699 (Approx. INR 91,300) which is roughly similar to the price of the iPhone XS. The fact that it includes an Mi Mix 2S which sports a Bezel-less display design, dual lens camera at the back and Qi wireless charging, makes it a wooing attempt by the Chinese brand to acquire more customer base.
XS Max set
Well, this bundled offer includes Mi 8 smartphone, Mi Notebook Pro, Mi Band 3 and Mi Bluetooth neckband, set at CNY 9,599 (Approx. INR 1,00,700) which again matches the price of the iPhone XS Max base model. Xiaomi’s strategic bundled offer seemingly looks impressive but we can always say that no matter what the Chinese brand does, it can’t beat the power and influence of the iPhone. For some, carrying a latest iPhone model will be far better than carrying any of the above bundled offer. However, the company will be the best to state of the strategy proved to be a good or a bad game for the company.
