However, this news has another twist in the story of who would develop the foldable smartphone technology and make it accessible to the consumers first. Yes, the race has begun reportedly between Samsung and the Chinese tech giant, Huawei. The Chinese smartphone maker has an eye on developing and marketing the foldable smartphones to the consumers before Samsung. To accomplish this ambition of Huawei, the company has shaken hands with Chinese OLED screen developing expert, BOE Technology, which will develop the foldable smartphone screen for Huawei.

If the company is successful in doing it, it will be the first to manufacture the foldable smartphones. The company has planned to manufacture 20,000-30,000 smartphones in the initial phase, as per Nikkei report. To beat the rival South Korean tech giant in the race, Huawei is planning to unfold the mystery of foldable smartphones in the “very early of 2019,”. This plan is speculated to be against Samsung’s launch which possibly be in 2019. “The Chinese company wants to be the first in the industry even if the display technology from its panel supplier might not be that ready like Samsung,” said Jeff Pu, Analyst, Yuanta Investment Consulting.

The Axon M from ZTE which is called a foldable smartphone isn’t truly a foldable smartphone as two screens are connected using hinges in it.
