The custodian of Nokia phones, HMD global has unveiled the much awaited and rumoured smartphone, Nokia 6.1 Plus. Nokia 6.1 Plus is the global variant of the Nokia X6 which was launched in China on May 16. The smartphone was earlier rumoured to be launched globally with highlight features like iPhone X like Notch and Snapdragon 636 chipset and a dual lens camera setup at the back, in Hong Kong. However, confirming the latest teaser where Taiwan was hinted to be chosen to unveil the smartphone at, the smartphone was made official.
The smartphone is priced HKD 2,288 (Approx. INR 20,100) and will start it’s journey to reach the consumers from July 24. The color variant includes Blue and White color. Let’s now magnify our knowledge about the specifications and features of the smartphone
The Nokia 6.1 Plus global variant sports a 5.8-inch F-HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and an iPhone X like Notch and 2.5D curved glass with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. On the optics front, the smartphone sports a dual lens camera module at the rear side of the smartphone. The dual lens setup comprises of 16-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixel and a 5-megapixel secondary monochrome sensor with similar aperture like the primary one.
The dual lens camera setup is backed by AI features which include portrait light mode, depth of the field, HDR and colour contrast, along with an LED flash. At the front, the smartphone sports a 16-megapixel camera sensor with similar f/2.0 aperture and micron pixels like the rear one. The camera also attributes the Bothie feature in the front as well as the rear camera. The Nokia 6.1 Plus runs on Android 8.1 Oreo based on Android One edition. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC clocked at up to 1.8GHz, paired with 4GB RAM. The inbuilt storage capacity includes 64GB variant which is expandable to up to 400GB using a MicroSD card. When it comes to the battery power, the smartphone is fuelled by a 3,060mAh battery compatible to fast charging using Quick Charge 3.0.

On the connectivity front, the Nokia 6.1 Plus features 4G VoLTE dual SIM support, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, Type C USB port and a 3.5mm Audio Jack. The sensors on-board include ambient light sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, gyroscope and digital compass. The sensors also include a Face Unlock Feature back panel and back panel embedded fingerprint scanner. The Nokia 6.1 Plus weighs 151g and measures 147.2×70.98×7.99mm.
