FIR Registered Against BJP MLA for Objectionable Comments

T. Raja Singh, from Hyderabad has been booked for an instigating video message spread on social media on June 10. He has been accused of hurting religious sentiments basis the comments made in the video message. The video message is still present on his facebook official ID.

The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) MLA, T. Raja Singh, from Hyderabad has been booked for an instigating video message spread on social media on June 10. He has been accused of hurting religious sentiments basis the comments made in the video message. The video message is still present on his facebook official ID. T. Raja Singh represents Koshamahal constituency from Hyderabad and is known for his pro-hindu views. In a video message circulated on social media, Singh says, “These days many legislators are busy hosting Iftar party, wearing skull caps and taking selfies. They think if they have to do vote bank politics, they will have to think of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’,”

The lawmaker who has always been in news for his soft-corner for Hindutva, has also called those who attend iftar parties “Votes ke Bhikaari” (Beggers of votes). “Those who sit with them (attending Iftar parties) are ‘Voke Ke Bhikaari’. My thinking is different,” said Singh in the video message. He further targeted a ‘Green Book’ and blamed it for the terrorism and unrest in the country. He also mentioned that this ‘Green Book’ promotes killing and torture of ‘Kaafir’ and that ‘Kaafir is equal to Hindus’.  He said, “This green book is responsible for the spread of terrorism in India and it should be banned. I will fight to get it banned,”. He also mentioned of a gathering of Hindus that he is thinking to organize to unite Hindus and work together. He further enumerate his dreams which includes ‘Hindu Rashtra’ (Hindu Nation), Rehabilitation of Hindu Pandits in Kashmir, Banning of Cow Slaughtering, and many more.

Taking a reference of comments made in the video, a case was filed against Singh at Falaknuma Police Station. “We have registered a case under the IPC 153-A following a complaint,” said V. Satyanarayana, DCP, South. It is to be noted that an objectionable comment was also reported from Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh (now in Telangana) in December 2012 from AIMIM leader, Akbaruddin Owaisi.

In a video reportedly from Adilabad, Owaisi allegedly said, “India, we muslims are just 25 crore and you Hindus are over 100 crore. But please get the police out for 15 minutes and we will show you who is more powerful,”. An FIR was registered and a petition to hear the case was admitted by the VII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate submitted by an advocate who stumbled upon this video uploaded on YouTube in the same month in 2012. The AIMIM leader received public furore and flaks of anger from public across the nation on Twitter. The #Owaisi was trending the whole day on Twitter after the news came out in light.
