Last year, Congress’ Hemant Katare defeated BJP’s Arvind Bhadoriya in bypoll by 850 plus votes from Atar seat of Bhind District in April, 2017. The game of levying non–ending allegations on each other seem to have begun since then. In January, Hemant Katare, son of former leader of opposition in state assembly Late Satyadeo Katare, filed a complaint against an aspiring Journalist alleging that she was blackmailing him and extorting money from him by threatening to charge him in a false rape case. After Katare’s complain, the girl was arrested and she spent few days in Judicial custody at Bhopal Central Jail before she was released on bail by a local court. Later the girl, went on to accuse Hemant Katare of kidnapping, raping and blackmailing her, in February 2018. A complaint was filed by the police but the first time Congress MLA was not arrested.
The case took a major U–turn on 3rd May 2018, when the girl submitted an affidavit before Madhya Pradesh High Court, accepting that she falsely accused Katare on being misled and manipulated by a group of persons who were working under the guidance of state BJP Vice–President Arvind Bhadoria. Group of persons accused by the girl of misleading her include an advocate, a senior Bhopal based Journalist and Vikramjeet Singh. Interestingly Vikramjeet is the co-accused in extortion and blackmailing case registered against her by MLA Katare in January.

Reportedly, the 21 year old journalism student told that Vikramjeet came to meet her in Bhopal Central Jail accompanied by a lawyer, Bhadoriya met both of them before they met her and asked them to assure the girl that the case against her will be closed. Apparently, after signing the “Vakalatnama”, she was told to file a rape case against Katare. After initial refusals by her, she was persuaded by the lawyer to file fake complaints against Katare or else she will have to stay in jail for 3 months. The girl allegedly said that the whole conspiracy was masterminded by Arvind, to frame Congress MLA. However, all such allegations were denied by Arvind Bhadoriya. He said, “I am ready for probe by any agency,” He further added that, “A conspiracy was being hatched to kill him,”
She filed an affidavit in High Court stating the FIRs filed by police on the basis of her complaints weren’t true. In the affidavit, the girl confessed, “I would like to confess that the allegations levelled by me in the said FIR are completely false and fabricated and have been levelled because I was deeply agonized by the persecution and harassment in the jail. I was told that levying allegations on MLA Hemant Katare was the only way by which I could get bail in the extortion and blackmailing case,”
“Every time I expressed a desire to tell the truth they would get me reiterate false allegations in one way or the other either before the press or in court in the form of statements or writ petitions and make me tell the lie again on the affidavit. I was misled and manipulated to level false allegations against Hemant Katare and was made to believe that by doing so I can take revenge from Hemant for getting me arrested in the false extortion case,” was stated in the affidavit. The affidavit further stated that, “On April 2, 2018, they asked me to write letters to the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh HC, alleging bias and gave me a letter and asked me to imitate it in my handwriting. I at that point of time did, as they asked me to do. I would, however, apologise for having written that letter,”
The girl said that she was being used as a political tool for personal gains, “These people tried to portray as if they had sympathy for me. However, they made me level false allegations for their own personal gains and benefits. As a matter of fact, I’ve been made a scapegoat for the political motives of these influential people,” affidavit mentioned. The prime conspirator, as named by the aspiring journalist, Arvind Bhadoria, denied meeting or even knowing the girl. Reacting to the affidavit filed in the High Court, State Congress Spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi said, “It has now exposed the political conspiracy hatched by the ruling BJP against the Congress MLA. The CM should come forward and set an example by acting against those named by the girl in the affidavit,”
Reflecting her helplessness in the affidavit, she mentioned, “I apologise for having levelled false allegations, I fear that on my stating the truth that I’m now making public, these influential people like Arvind Bhadoria can cause grave harm to me and my family and can even get me and family members murdered. I seek mercy for my wrongdoings,”
