After a number of leaks and rumours, Xiaomi launched the first gaming smartphone, Black Shark, in China. The reason for the cameras rolling at the launch event was mainly because of the curiosity the smartphone created due to it’s high powered machinery inside it. The smartphone starts at CNY 2,999 (Approx. INR 31,100) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage whereas CNY 3,499 (Approx. INR 36,300) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB Internal storage and will go for sale from April 20. The smartphone is listed on company’s china website and jd.com for checking the features and specs. The smartphone comes in Polar Night and Sky Grey color variants. The smartphone will compete with Razer smartphones and comes with a controller with joystick at an additional cost of CNY 179 (Approx. INR 1,900).
Let’s look at it’s 5 key specs and features
The smartphone packs a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1080x2160px) with 18:9 aspect ratio and 76% screen-to-body ratio. The display bears pixel density of around 403ppi.
The Xiaomi Black Shark sports dual lens camera at the back. The primary camera of which bears 20-megapixel sensor along with secondary camera of 12-megapixel sensor, both of which feature f/1.75 aperture and an LED flash. The front camera bears 20-megapixel single lens with f/2.2 aperture.
The smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo OS and is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM. Talking about the speed of the processor, 4 cores are clocked at 2.8GHz Kryo 385 Gold and other 4 cores clocked at 1.8GHz Kryo 385 Silver.
The Black Shark comes in 2 variants when it comes to the internal storage capacity. When you choose to buy the 6GB RAM variant, you will get 64GB internal storage capacity wherein, if you choose the 8GB RAM variant, you will get 128GB internal storage capacity.

The smartphone packs a powerful 4,000mAh non-removable battery with support to FastCharging. On the connectivity front, the smartphone features 4G enabled Dual-SIM slots, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, GPS/A-GPS, USB Type C 2.0 and 3.5mm Audio Jack. The sensors on-board are rear mounted fingerprint sensor, proximity, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyro and digital compass.
