Mumbai: How would you react if you are the college answer sheet examiner and get an emotional story in an answer sheet from the students? We are sure you would be baffled by discovering it. The same is the situation with the answer sheet examiners of Uttar Pradesh education system these days. From holding ‘Love’ accountable for the lack of preparedness for the exam to the emotional tantrums to threatening to suicide if failed, the students of Uttar Pradesh have tried every aspect to convince the examiners to prevent them from failing.

As per the source, one of the students has blamed ‘Love’ for not able to write the paper efficiently. “Ye mohabbat bhi kya cheez hai, na jeene deti hai aur na marne…sir, iss love story ne padhai se duur kar dia nahin toh maine high school tak khoob padhai ki thi..” (Love is such a strange thing, doesn’t let us die nor does it let us live..Sir, this love story had kept me away from studies otherwise I had extensively studied till high school) read the answer sheet. He also revealed his culprit’s name as he wrote, “I Love My Pooja”.

The story doesn’t end here, there are numerous such answer sheets which have personal emotional drama or threat to suicide if failed in the exam. Another student wrote, “I have got no mother and my father will kill me you fail me,” and another had threatened to suicide if failed in the exam. A Meerut based government teacher told TOI, “Most of the messages are written to attract sympathy and attaching currency notes is a regular phenomenon that has been occurring for years now,”

While attaching currency notes to an answer sheet, a student wrote, “Guruji ko copy kholne se pehle namaskar. Guruji, pass kar dein. Chitthi tu ja sir ke pass, sir ki marzi fail karein ya pass,” (Greetings to my Teacher before opening the answer sheet. Teacher, please pass me. Oh my letter, please reach my teacher, it’s his/her will to either pass or fail me).

 

One may wonder after reading these stories that had the students applied the same amount of time and energy in studying, the examiners would have passed them for sure. Around 60 lakh answer sheets have been evaluated as the process started from March 17. The results of the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board exams are expected by third week of April.
