Ayodhya: Yet another controversial statement has been given by Bharatiya Janata Party MP (Member of Parliament) from Faizabad (Ayodhya) constituency, Vinay Katiyar, on the Ram Mandir agenda. In a talk with news agency, ANI, the BJP MP said, “I believe Ram Janmabhoomi is demanding another sacrifice, and the Hindu community should get ready for this,”
The Bajrang Dal chief, Katiyar, has ignited the Ram Mandir agenda by calling the Hindu community to unite and ‘sacrifice’ for the lord Ram. He referred to the 1992 incidence of Babri Masjid demolition and the subsequent order of bullet firing on Karsevaks by the former Samajwadi Party chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav. He said, “The way Mulayam Singh Yadav fired shots on December 6, 1992 and many people were killed, another such revolution needs to be instigated and our Hindu community must be ready for martyrdom,”
In the firing ordered by Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister of 1992, Mulayam Singh Yadav, thousands of Hindu Karsevaks (activists) lost their lives. The Ram Mandir issue is since then in several courts and is currently pending in Supreme Court for the final verdict. The final hearing has begun from February 8, 2018 in Supreme Court and SC has dismissed intervention petition from almost 32 petitioners in the Ramjanmabhumi-Babri Masjid dispute.
Katiyar had given another controversial statement in February wherein he asked the Muslims to leave the country if they cannot respect Vande Mataram and hoist Pakistani flags. “Muslims shouldn’t even be living in this country, they’re the ones who partitioned this country based on their population, so why do they need to live here? They were given separate territory, they should go to Pakistan or Bangladesh, what business do they have here,” Katiyar said, as per TOI report in February. His statement was speculated to be an answer to AIMIM chief, Asaduddin Owaisi, who had a day earlier sought a law in Lok Sabha to prevent anyone calling Muslims Pakistani. He had demanded 3 years imprisonment for anyone calling Muslims Pakistanis.
The case of Ramjanmabhumi-Babri Masjid is currently in Supreme Court and the hearing has already begun. Both the parties i.e. Hindus and Muslims stakeholders in the case have agreed on Supreme Court’s direction for their next step in sorting out the dispute.
