Not just a proteinous food but eggs are also a very controversial food when it comes to it’s categorization between vegetarian and non vegetarian. Eggs ignite very serious arguments amongst people frequently. One of the arguments being whether Eggs came first or the Chickens. Another argument that surrounds this nutritious breakfast is that of whether Eggs are vegetarian or non-vegetarian.
While generally people in other countries are found to be rather clear on this subject, the argument primarily persists in India where there are three types of people. Non-vegetarians, vegetarians and vegetarians who consume eggs i.e. Eggetarians. The argument that surrounds the egg is basically that of some people describing egg as vegetarian and some people supporting the contrary. However, what is true? Are eggs really non-vegetarian or can they pass for being a vegetarian food?
We have solid answers from scientists. According to scientists, eggs are very much Vegetarian. How, you ask now? The eggs that we consume consist of three parts, according to scientists. A hen, when is six months old gives an egg every one or one and a half day. Yet, it is not necessary for the hen to mate before laying an egg. Hence, the eggs that the hen lays without mating are unfertilized eggs which are primarily the eggs sold to us in the markets. So, the eggs that we eat are unfertilized or as we call it in simple terms, artificial eggs. Scientists say that these unfertilized eggs haven’t yet reached the state where they contain an embryo. So technically we aren’t consuming an animal/bird.
