On his victory, his wife, Niti Deb, who is a banker from Punjab working in Delhi said, “We are extremely happy that our family head has now become the guardian of the entire state. Biplab Kumar Deb took oath as 11th Chief Minister of Tripura and Senior BJP leader, Jishnu Debbarma took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister on Friday at Assam Rifles ground, whereas earlier oath taking ceremonies used to take place inside Raj Bhawan. The grand ceremony, saw presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other party leaders. The swearing in ceremony was also attended by former Chief Minister, Manik Sarkar, on invitation of Biplab Deb and BJP leader, Ram Madhav. The party promised that, they will try to honour the verdict of people of Tripura by ensuring development and peace in the state.

 

Biplab Kumar Deb said, “I love the people of Tripura, I have great respect for the communists and Manik Sarkar but I feel sad that they got so much time but did not utilise the natural resources of the state to develop it. They will have to answer to god for this failure. The people have already given their verdict.” Later, after taking charge of the state as the CM, he said to the people of Tripura, “Treat me as your son, brother, not as CM. Pull my ears to put me on the right track if I err in providing you good governance.”

Swearing-in ceremony of first BJP government in the state was celebrated grandly with a 100 – ft long stage.
