25 Year Old Biplab Deb Could be Tripura’s Next Chief Minister, 5 Facts to Know

The party which could only win a single seat in the Assembly Election 2013 has won 35 seats off 60 total seats in the state this year.

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has shown a Tsunami of vote acquisition in India’s north-eastern state, Tripura. Tripura marked 92% of voting this year against 93.57% in 2013. The party which could only win a single seat in the Assembly Election 2013 has won 35 seats off 60 total seats in the state this year. The party workers along with party leaders have dedicated this win to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party President, Amit Shah.

Along with these two personalities, one more person who is in news for making this humongous victory a reality is Biplab Deb. The 25 year old ex-volunteer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is at the top in the list of potential and probable Chief Ministers of Tripura. When asked by ANI, he said, “I don’t want to comment anything on this issue. The decision will be taken by the party,” Deb is currently serving as the state president for the party from the past 2 years. Let’s look at some of the unknown facts about Biplab Deb

1. Deb was born in Kakraban, Udaipur, South Tripura and is 25 years old. He graduated in Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Tripura University and reportedly, left for Delhi to complete his further studies.

 

2. He, reportedly, spent 15 years of his lifetime in Delhi choosing gym instruction as his profession. He returned to Tripura 2 years ago and worked at ground level before becoming the party president for the state.

 




3. He replaced Sudhindra Dasgupta who was the longest serving party president for the state. Dasgupta is said to have served the state as the party president for five years before Deb acquired the throne.

4. As per a report, Deb was a noted RSS activist and spent substantial amount of his time in RSS headquarter in Nagpur.

 

5. If he becomes the Chief Minister of Tripura, he will be the 10th Chief Minister of Tripura by dethroning Manik Sarkar who has served as the Chief Minister of Tripura since 1998.
