Ever since Bollywood lost it’s Chandni untimely, it has been difficult for the industry to cope up with the shock that came their way. It was kind of anticipated then that the film fraternity would refrain from Holi celebrations this year.
Bollywood and Holi have a very old connection. Holi is almost like a grand celebration and a yearly tradition for the film fraternity. However, this year the industry doesn’t seem to be in the mood to celebrate their favorite festival. With their dear and beloved colleague passing away not even a week before Holi, the film fraternity has dropped it’s plan of celebrating Holi.

Shabana Azmi tweeted her decision of cancelling the event of Holi in the wake of Sridevi’s death. It is very obvious with her tweet that she’s very sad and displeased with her colleague passing away so suddenly. Along with Shabana Azmi, Ram Gopal Varma also has been tweeting about how sad he is with Sridevi’s untimely demise. He has apparently been tweeting his fans an Unhappy Holi, of course saddened by the thought of Sridevi who is no more with us. Sridevi’s society has also circulated a notice and decided on not celebrating the festival this year in order to pay their respect to their neighbor and superstar Sridevi.
While the film fraternity in general has abandoned the idea of a celebration this weekend, some celebrities think otherwise. Ekta Kapoor has decided to celebrate her Holi this year with the Box Cricket League team which will also host a number of TV celebrities. Apart from Ekta Kapoor, Ranveer Singh also hasn’t dropped his Holi plans, probably because of prior commitments. He is planning a celebration with international star, Pharell Williams, who is going to be in India for a clothing brand launch of which Ranveer is a part of.

The Holi celebrations will definitely also gather in some more celebrities who decide on not changing their plans on celebrations, as is their right. After all, why should we judge their judgements, right? Despite the demise of Bollywood’s Chandni, it doesn’t imply the celebrities to refrain from their already existing plans.
Whether celebrating Holi or not, the film fraternity will never be the same without Sridevi.
