The oldest gymkhana and one of the prestigious one in the city is the Bombay Gymkhana which was established in 1875. It is a one stop place for different sports facilities like cricket, football, tennis, squash, etc. This club was initially admitting Europeans as its members, to those who had a great social position and of elite families. This club is known for it’s friendly atmosphere but also for it’s rigorous rules, one of them being a dress code if you want an entry in the club.

Registration fees: Initial for companies – Rs. 2 Lakh/Membership, Rs. 25 Lakh/person for 10years
Built in 1935, this gymkhana was established with the sole purpose of building a place for people who are passionate about sports. It started as a cricket club but now acts as a host for many different tournaments and sports events. It has a three level restaurant with a multipurpose hall, that comes in handy for conducting events. If you are looking for it’s membership, then having only money can’t guarantee you that. You need to go through some process, which includes an interview, which you need to qualify and then there is ever growing waiting period. This gymkhana provides membership in different categories.
Registration Fees: Depending on the number of new members, for first 100 new – Rs. 10 Lakh, the second lot, Rs. 12.5 Lakh, and for remaining it’s Rs. 15 Lakh.
3. Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana (JVPG)
Located in one of the suburbs of Mumbai, is the JVPG club. This gymkhana was established in 1981, which now comprises of more than 6500 members. This club is easily accessible via bus, train, as it is also near the Domestic airport. This gymkhana has three international standard badminton courts, two synthesised lawn tennis courts and other facilities with a dining hall with beautiful ambience and a sitting of around 100 people.

5. Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana
This club was established in 1950, with 60 founder members. The club provides State-of-Art Gymkhana sport facilities like Badminton Courts, Tennis Courts, Squash Court, Billiards, Skating Rink, Chess and Carrom. It also provides the seven deluxe twin rooms which have all the modern amenities. This club consists of around 5700 members as of now.

Registration fees: Varying from Rs. 3 Lakh to Rs. 11 Lakh.
