Xiaomi India Launched Redmi Note 5 with 18:9 Display and 4000mAh Battery at Rs. 9,999
The highlight features of the smartphone are the 18:9 Full HD display, 4000mAh battery and Camera module. Notably, the smartphone do not have face unlock feature as of now, however, the smartphone will have it with an OTA update scheduled for March this year.
Mumbai: The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, has launched new smartphones Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro in India on Wednesday in Delhi. The two newbies had already launched in China in December last year under the name Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus dropping the moniker ‘Note’ from the name. The highlight features of the smartphone are the 18:9 Full HD display, 4000mAh battery and Camera module. Notably, the smartphone do not have face unlock feature as of now, however, the smartphone will have it with an OTA update scheduled for March this year. Talking about the specs and the features of the two smartphones, they do not differ much, however, the Pro version does sport better camera module with dual rear camera setup. Let’s look at the specs and features of both the newbies in the Note series
Both the smartphones dominate the front with 5.99 inch Full HD 2.5D curved display with 18:9 aspect ratio and screen resolution of 1080x2160pixels. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The Redmi Note 5 sports 12-megapixel camera lens at the rear with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), HDR, Panorama and backed by Dual Tone Dual LED flash. The front camera features 5-megapixel camera sensor with Beautification Mode and a Selfie Light Module LED for enhancing photography experience in the low light conditions.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro sports a better one with dual lens camera at the back with primary being 12-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture while the secondary being 5-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera setup is backed by an LED flash. The front selfie camera features Sony IMX376 with a Soft Light Module LED for dim light selfies. Both the cameras, front and the rear one, feature Portrait mode and Bokeh effect to enhance users’ experience.
On the Software front, Redmi Note 5 is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC clocked at up to 2GHz coupled with 3GB/4GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. Whereas, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by the Xiaomi claimed World’s First Smartphone to feature an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC clocked at up to 1.8GHz paired with 4GB/6GB RAM and Adreno 509 GPU. Both the smartphones run MIUI 9 based Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
Redmi Note 5 features 32GB and 64GB inbuilt storage based on the price and RAM you opt for, however, they both are expandable to up to 128GB using a MicroSD card. In comparison to it, the Redmi Note 5 Pro features 64GB inbuilt storage with 4GB/6GB RAM. They both pack a powerful 4,000 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with support to TurboCharging.
On the connectivity front, both the smartphones feature Hybrid Dual 4G VoLTE compatible Nano SIM Slot, WIFI 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, FM Radio, Micro-USB and 3.5m Audio Jack. Sensor onboard are Fingerprint Sensor at the back, accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass. The Redmi Note 5 weighs 180 grams with dimension 158.5×75.45×8.05mm compared to Redmi Note 5 pro of 181 grams and the dimensions of 158.6×75.4×8.1mm.
Coming to the final thing and that’s the price of both the smartphones, the Redmi Note 5 is priced INR 9,999 for the 3GB RAM paired with 32GB inbuilt storage variant and INR 11,999 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage. The Redmi Note 5 Pro, however, is priced INR 13,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage is priced INR 16,999. Both the smartphones are available in Black, Gold, Lake Blue and Rose Gold. Both the smartphones will be released on February 22 and will be Flipkart exclusive along with Mi.com and Offline stores.
