Mumbai: The day of pride, yes, that’s what we call it for the women staffers of Matunga Railway Station who made their debut in the Limca Book of Records 2018. The Matunga Railway Station which falls under Mumbai Division of Central Railways has finally got the reason to make us proud. The Railway Station has become the first railway station from the whole of India to make a mark in a giant book of record for exclusively managed by women.

The journey to this began 6 months back when the station planned to be operated exclusively by women only. Right from the Ticket Checkers (TCs) to the station manager, everyone that you see in the uniform at the station are women. A perfect example of women empowerment, isn’t it? A total of 41 women personnels are deployed including 17 booking clerks, 6 Railway Protection Force personnels, 8 TCs, 5 Point Persons, 2 announcers and 2 cleaning staff and Mamta Kulkarni who is the station manager.
