Mumbai: Samajwadi Party leader and Member of Rajya Sabha, Naresh Agarwal got into a controversy when the Ministry of External Affairs revealed the details of meeting between Jadhav’s wife and his mother, where he suggested that the way Jadhav’s family members were treated was justified as the jailed Indian national was a terrorist for Pakistan.
Naresh Agarwal commented that Pakistan considers Kulbhushan Jadhav a terrorist, thus it treated him accordingly. He also added that if it was the case in India, it would and it should treat the terrorists the same way as Pakistan did.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, mother and wife of Jadhav named Avanti and Chetankul respectively , during their visit to Islamabad, were ordered to remove mangalsutra, bangles and bindi. In addition to these, they were asked to changed their attire. All these acts were cited as a security measure by the Prison officials. They were also interrupted during the meeting with Jadhav and were not allowed to speak in their native Marathi. Once the meeting was over, Jadhav’s wife and his mother were harassed by Pakistani Journalists.
Meanwhile, this created a uproar in Lok Sabha after the humiliation faced by Jadhav’s family came to lime light.
Agarwal’s statement about Jadhav drew condemning remarks from many parties.
According to Union Minister, Hansraj Ahir, it was a very unfortunate statement given by Naresh Agarwal and being an Indian citizen, it was not right on his part to do so. He added that protest against Government was fine but this seemed like a protest against our own nation.
