Mumbai: We all have heard the stories of a Good Samaritan once in our childhood, haven’t we? But after growing up how many of you’ll see one, none right! But you will see and read about him today. Let’s take you to our country’s Good Samaritan who needs no introduction.
Our very own, Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi. He is one who has been looking after Nirbhaya’s family and helping them both emotionally as well as monetarily. This all without seeking any kind of attention to himself as described by Nirbhaya’s father.
Nirbhaya’s father, Badrinath Singh, said that there were many who offered help to their family initially after his daughter was assaulted and gangraped in 2012. Praising Rahul, he said, “it was Gandhi who stood by us always and had strictly told us to keep it a secret”, according to the news agency Indo-Asian News Service (IANS).
He mentioned that as his son completed his Class 12, he was admitted to the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, which is a government-funded autonomous institute in Rae Bareli, the Lok Sabha constituency of Rahul’s mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi has been like his tutor and mentor throughout who counselled Nirbhaya’s brother, and even helped him become a pilot, said Singh. He further added that he has no interest in politics and his acknowledgement of the Congress leader’s support has no political agenda.
Their son also wanted to prepare for the Indian Army’s recruitment examination, but later found it difficult, his mother said. She added that her son, who underwent an 18-month pilot’s training course, used to keep a constant track of the Nirbhaya’s trial.

“When he was studying, Rahul used to talk to him over the phone and taught him to adopt a ‘never quit’ attitude,” Asha Devi told the Mail Today.
Rahul Gandhi never showed a careless attitude as he used to enquire about his training-cum-job post his studies simply everything.
In fact, not just Rahul even his sister Priyanka Gandhi would keep in touch with the family. “She often asks about our health,” Nirbhaya’s mother said.
