Bangalore: Delhi Court on September 15, 2017 held by Metropolitan Magistrate, Lovleen granted Bail to the woman who involved in a road rage by attacking an army personnel.
Earlier this month, a video was circulated virally in social media. The video witnessed a raged women, who without any reasons and explanations caught slapping and hurling a Jawan in the mid of a road in Vasant Kunj, Delhi.
The victim of this case is an Army man, Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), Mahavir Singh, who has explained the ordeal.
On Saturday, September 9, 2017, Mahavir Singh, an Army Subedar was going in a Military truck to drop his five colleagues at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, in Delhi. While on their route, a Tata Indica car with a woman driver overtook the truck at Rajkori flyover. Since then, the driver of the vehicle i.e. the accused lady repeatedly blocked the truck by driving her car in a zig-zag manner. The army an kept blowing horn continuously but the accused refused to give them way as per Mahavir’s police statement.
When both the car and truck stopped at a traffic, the fiery women from the Tata Indica stepped down and approached the truck and held the collars of the army constable who was driving the truck. She then abused and slapped him without giving any reasons or explanations. Realising it is impossible to control her, the constable came back and sat in the truck. It didn’t end there as the aggressive women came near the truck and banged the windows while abusing them. When JCO Mahavir Singh who was sitting near the constable came down to demand an explanation for the act, the women abused him and also slapped him multiple times. When his colleagues got down from the vehicle, she realised the seriousness of the situation and sped off with her car.
The army Subedar asked his colleagues to video record the incident before getting down. Mahavir told the police that he stopped the truck at least two meters behind the car and there is reportedly no crash. He can’t understand the motive behind her act.
While this was going up on one side, there was a huge crowd gathered around them. Despite causing traffic jam, it didn’t cause any collision or accident.
Mahavir reported to media that even though his blood boiled in rage when she slapped her, he refrained only because she is a woman. The woman later found to be 44 year old Smriti Kalra who lives with her parents with Gurugram aka Gurgaon.

Following this incident, the JCO filed a police complaint on September 13, submitting the video record of the incident. Kalra, a divorcee who was the culprit was arrested by the Delhi police under the IPC sections 186, 353, 314, 332 (Non-bailable) and an FIR was also lodged on her. Kalra was married to an army officer’s son in 1995 but she separated from him after a dispute in 2008.
