Mumbai: After BEST workers called it for a strike today, it’s red buses were seen off Mumbai’s busy seen streets, that too, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. BEST workers complained of irregularities in salary processing and called it the main reason for the strike.

While BEST administration seemed incapable of controlling the situation, the commuters were left with no option than for a nightmare. BEST management were contemplating on taking disciplinary action against the workers earlier today but subdued the idea later. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, in the meanwhile, spoke to the union leaders and assured that workers’ need will be addressed and kept in mind henceforth. The union leaders have announced to take off the strike and appealed to the workers to get back to work ASAP. After 3800 red buses went off the streets of Island city, the Trains were seen crowded, Autos and Taxis fell short to meet the demand.

The question which a common man would ask the governing body, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) are

When the ‘Strike’ information was already known, why the necessary talks and action were not taken in advance?

Why everytime a common man suffers due to any feud between the management and the workers?

We hope the BEST Management learns from today’s episode and takes the necessary action to curtail such strike in future.
