We call it an amazing and exciting day when we received this light weighted & fine material made Asus Zenfone Live. Needless to say, the Taiwanese Smartphone manufacturing company, Asus has heard the need of its budget friendly smartphone buyers with its launch. Although Asus Zenfone Live is not the only one in its price range to offer the features it offers but still stands strong before the others. It lacks in battery power and needless to say, Asus Zenfone Live may get a hit when compared to its competitors like Panasonic P55 Max and Intex Elyt e7 on many parameters. However, there are many things to talk about Asus Zenfone Live which will make you think before buying any other options. The highlight feature of this budget Smartphone, according to us, is it’s lightness in handling and the live beautification while live streaming. We showed this Smartphone to many of our friends and they all agreed to buy because of its lightness and easy to handle. The other features, ofcourse, were a matter of discussion but it’s weight as light as 120g and it’s metallic unibody will definitely catch your eyes on it. We had got the gold one to review, however it is also available in Rose Pink and Navy Black.
Build & Design
The build quality of Asus has been undoubtedly better than its competitors. Even with Asus Zenfone Live, Asus has kept the build quality and design in mind while manufacturing this budget friendly Smartphone. The body is encompassed with a metallic finish and curved at all edges. The easy to handle phone has a 5 inch 2.5D glass IPS display and display quality is good.
The right of it has volume rockers and the power button, the left side shows the SIM tray enabling you to use Hybrid SIM card (Nano + Micro/SD Card).
The speaker grille to the bottom along with charging port and 3.5mm audio jack to the top of the Smartphone.
The Asus embossed on the rear of the phone along with the rear camera gives a fine finish. The edges curved at the corners make the finishing wow-worthy and eye catchy.
The Asus Zenfone Live has got a 5 inch large HD display with 2.5D curved glass. The SoC is Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad core processor. Asus has used a very old Snapdragon version almost 2 generation old to power this Smartphone launched in 2017. With Adreno 305 graphics, it is powered with 2GB RAM and 1.4GHz speed to its micro processor. Your desire to store more photos and data is also thought about as the Zenfone Live comes with 16GB internal storage. The storage capacity of Zenfone Live can be increased to 256GB with the help of a MicroSD card. However, you may have to dump your one SIM card to expand your memory as the Smartphone offers one Nano SIM + MicroSD/Nano SIM. It is 4G ready phone so use a high speed Reliance Jio 4G or any other 4G SIM without the worry of its compatibility. Now comes the Battery power, it may disappoint you here as Zenfone Live packs only a 2650 mAh non-removable battery against its competitors with much high powered batteries. Where Panasonic P55 Max offers 5000 mAh battery power, Asus seems to lack in this category. With regards to the software, it supports Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) along with Zenfone UI 3.0 which claims to give a user-friendly and user-oriented User Interface. It also offers Display ON/OFF with just a double tap on the screen. It is my favorite.
Now we come to the best part of Asus Zenfone Live where Asus has introduced the first of its kind technology called BeautyLive Technology. What BeautyLive Technology does will make you wonder if this is the phone you were waiting for. BeautyLive Technology enables a user to beautify the look of the user before going live on a video call or recording or streaming. The rear camera with 13 MP lens and f/2.0 aperture and an LED for flash will make your photography skill boosted. The selfie centric consumers need not worry as Zenfone Live has got an LED at the front with 5 Megapixel lens. The BeautyLive app lifts your selfie experience and will entice you to take selfies like anything. We tried it’s camera features and believe us, it was amazing. We hope Asus will enhance its BeautyLive Technology more in the upcoming Smartphones.
The Asus Zenfone Live didn’t disappoint us in terms of performance. We have reviewed Asus’ other Smartphones too and like others, even this Smartphone didn’t lag much. We installed many high end games and applications and used them simultaneously to check if it gets heated up. However, it didn’t heat up nor did it hang, which is more common in some budget friendly Smartphones. About the functioning of Screen Lock On/Off button, the Smartphone responded pretty fast. We restarted the smartphone to check how much time it takes to load everything before it is ready for a rough use again, it did slow down slightly but shouldn’t bother the buyer to that extent. One may presume lagging in the performance due to the use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which is 2 generation old, however the Smartphone covered up pretty well. The graphic processing didn’t bother us while playing some intense power consuming games. As far as battery is concerned, the smartphone does require charging more oftenly if you are a rough mobile user.

We wouldn’t ask you to guess the price of this ‘BeautyLive’ful smartphone because you may guess it high. It’s available on Flipkart at just INR 9,999 but for the Navy Black, you may have to shell out li’l extra i.e. the price is INR 10,199.
With a Light weight, Live Streaming and Live Beautification feature, Asus Zenfone Live isn’t bad at its price and will definitely woo selfie crazy Consumers of India.
