Mumbai: On the World Emoji Day, the giant smartphone maker Apple tried wooing its users with the introduction of new set of Emojis in the form of Hijabi Woman, Bearded Man, Meditating Man, Breastfeeding Woman, etc. but got a backlash from users in return. Users reacted to Apple CEO, Tim Cook after he wished Apple followers and its users on Twitter the World Emoji Day and announced the new Emojis. Tim Cook had no idea that out of the whole set of Emoji that the company has introduced on Monday, users will criticize for the Emoji representing a woman wearing a Hijab. Twitter got flooded with numerous tweets against the introduction of Hijabi Woman Emoji and company had no idea what to do next. Some of the examples are shown below

the hijab is a symbol of oppression. by including it as an emoji you are showing your support for the oppression of women.

I’m sick of diversity for its own sake. Hijabs are an element of female oppression. Stop treating it like it’s something sacred coz it’s not

Instead of focusing on Emojis maybe Apple should be focusing on quality of MacBook Pro. It is declining very fast. 2nd Mac in 30 days.
