Bhagalpur: Reliance JIO customers data were leaked on a website named  Magicapk, having all the confidential details about their customers such as their mobile number, name, email-id, Aadhar number and the location from where users have activated their connection. Reliance JIO has more than 100 million users right now and if the data breach affects all its users, then the situation will be seriously bizarre for all the JIO users, especially, those users who have multiple JIO connections.

Multiple users reported the data leakage issue i.e. a website called Magicapk has access to data of existing Reliance JIO users. Even many of the users posted against it on social media worrying about security of their data. After cross-checking, The Quint media confirms that the data breach is true. As per the Reliance JIO spokesperson statement, they have come across the unverified and unsubstantiated claims of the website and they are investigating it. The data appears to be unauthentic. In fact, they gave an assurance to their subscribers that their data is safe and maintained with highest security. Data is only shared with authorities it is statutorily required to share with. They have informed law enforcement agencies about the claims of the website and ensure users that strict action is taken.

As we know, Reliance JIO is the new entrant in the telecom world and the first telecom operator in India to use the Aadhar Id for SIM activation. Users were signed up in a matter of minutes just by verifying their biometric data and their Aadhar number. As per the reports, Reliance JIO happens to be the first victim of such an attack. Neither AIRTEL nor VODAFONE, nor any other telecom company had been a victim and had its subscribers details revealed like this. Hence, this speaks a lot about the lapses in security in Reliance JIO services if this news is true.
