Goods and Services Tax (GST) Rate Finder App launched: Know the details

Lucknow: The Finance Ministry, on Friday, launched an app for the benefit of the consumers. This app will be used to check the rate of tax applicable on goods and services under the revised tax regime. This app is available on the Google Play Store. It will also be made available for iOS users soon. Inspite of a number of similar apps already available for download on the app store, the GST Rate Finder is the newest government gift to the public.

 

The Finance Ministry has definitely made things easier for some citizens by bringing-in this app which makes finding different rates of GST for various goods and services easier.




This mobile app can be downloaded on any smartphone and will also work in offline mode, Finance Ministry stated. “Through this app, user can determine GST rate for a good or a service by entering the name or chapter heading of the commodity or service,” it also said.

 

GST Rate Finder has simplified the GST calculation and it is described as “A simple app to search through the various goods and services and their respective GST Rates and details. Search the entire list or respective categories of taxes for Goods and Services”.

 

The ‘GST Rates Finder’ section has also been uploaded on the online portal cbec-gst.gov.in in order to help taxpayers in knowing the applicable GST rate on their supplies.

 

“A tax payer can detach for applicable CGST, SGST, UTGST rate and Compensation cess on a supply. The search can beade based on description of goods or services or HSN chapter or section or heading number. These initiatives are aimed to serve as a ready reckoner on GST rates,” the Ministry of Finance tweeted in a series of tweets from its official handle.

 

How can one use the GST Rates Finder App?

Anyone wanting GST rates for a good or a service has to simply enter the name or chapter heading of the commodity or services. The user will then be shown a list of all the Goods and Services containing the earlier typed names in the search box.

 

To make it easier for the taxpayers, the Central Board of Excise and Customs website has given a GST rate finder on its website http://cbec-gst.gov.in. Through this portal as well, one can find out the applicable GST rates on their  supplies.
