Mumbai: The young CEO, Travis Kalanick, of the San Francisco headquartered, Uber, has resigned from his post on Tuesday. Uber has been in news for various reasons and the most recent one was when it, reportedly, fired 20 of its employees following a report received by a law firm, Perkins Coie, on Sexual Harrassment charges.
Travis has resigned as the CEO of the company, however, will remain in the board. Kalanick’s mother, Bonnie Kalanick, died in a boating accident on May 26, 2017 and Travis was on leave post her mother’s death. Not just that but the real reason is also reported to be the hit to the company by the extended barrage of scandal and controversy which played as a catalyst in the demand by some major investors to get another person at Travis’ position.
As per a report by New York Times, a group of major investors of Uber demanded Travis’ resignation on Tuesday and Uber’s CEO stepped down from his Designation today.
“I love Uber more than anything in the world and at this difficult moment in my personal life, I have accepted the investors’ request to step aside so that Uber can go back to building rather than be distracted with another fight”, Kalanick’s statement to American daily newspaper, New York Times.
