The ‘Chandivali Cha Sarvasreshta Bappa Award 2018’ successfully concluded on September 23, 2018, with winners raising their toast together after being called upon to hold the winner’s trophies in the presence of some of the renowned personalities from Mumbai’s Chandivali Vidhansabha constituency. ‘Chandivali Cha Sarvasreshta Bappa Award’ is an annual competition organized by Ajanta News every year to recognise and felicitate the best Ganeshotsav Mandal from Chandivali constituency, who excel on some of the toughest parameters set by the judging panelists appointed by Ajanta News. The parameters include Cleanliness, Decoration, Fire Safety Compliance, General Knowledge about Lord Ganesha and such other parameters around Lord Ganesha. Around 54 Ganeshotsav Mandals from Chandivali Constituency participated in the competition and 4 won the Consolation Prize wherein the competition had 3 trophy winners.
To help the event become a huge success, Ajanta News collaborated with it’s NGO partner, Young Nation’s Youth Foundation (YNYF NGO), who deployed several of it’s volunteers on as well as off podium to minimise any inconvenience caused to the participants and the audience gathered around the venue. The volunteers of YNYF NGO ensured smooth functioning of the event, serving packaged drinking water glasses as well as Prasad (sacred eatables) to the Ganeshotsav Mandals moving towards Powai lake for Ganesh Visarjan.
The event was attended by some of the prominent leaders belonging to various political parties in the Chandivali constituency of North Central part of Mumbai. These prominent leaders include Ashok P. Matekar (Shiv Sena Leader), Suresh Bhintade (MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) Leader), Sharad Pawar (Ex-Corporator and Shiv Sena Leader), Jaya Nadar (Congress Leader), Subhash (Baba) Gaikwad (Shiv Sena Leader), and several other local politicians from Chandivali constituency. The event also marked the footfall of it’s Chief Guests, Mrs. Ashwini Ashok Matekar (Shiv Sena Corporator from Powai) and Mrs. Ranjana Rane Das (Renowned Social Worker and BJP leader), who ascended the energy of the audience as well as the winners of the ‘Chandivali Cha Sarvasreshta Bappa Award 2018’. The event saw some of the exuberant Mandal Committee members appearing on the stage of Ajanta News to meet the team of Ajanta News and thanking them for coming up with an award like ‘Chandivali Cha Sarvasreshta Bappa Award’ every year. “Such competition encourages us to install some of the best Ganpati idols and keep the environment around the Pandal clean and safe. We really feel great after participating in Chandivali Cha Sarvasreshta Bappa Award,” said the President of Lokmanya Tilak Nagar Ganeshotsav Mandal, Andheri East, Mumbai.

The core committee members of the Mandal came forward with their chest beating with proud to hold their winning trophy. Notably, Lokmanya Tilak Nagar Ganeshotsav Mandal is the same Mandal who had won the third prize in the ‘Chandivali Cha Sarvasreshta Bappa Award 2017‘. The team was unexpected of the second prize but exhibited their gratitude to the jury panelists for choosing them for this award.
It was now time for the announcement of the first prize winner of ‘Chandivali Cha Sarvasreshta Bappa Award 2018’ and to announce the name, the Chief Guest of the event, Mr. Ashok Matekar, Shiv Sena Leader and renowned social worker, was called upon on the stage. As the moment inched towards the name announcement, the cheering began from the crowd and finally the moment was called upon. The first winner’s trophy was awarded to Chandivali MHADA Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Andheri East and the whole of Mandal’s team was present to take the honour. The Mandal is headed by some of the corporate professionals working with Banks and other such organizations.
To recall, the same Mandal won last year’s first prize and the Mandal worked really hard to retain the first prize title this year too. To give a gist about the Mandal, it has replicated Shirdi Sai Baba temple in their Pandal (tent) this year. Ajanta News’ team visited the Pandal and one may not guess if they are in a replica or the real Shirdi Temple, the Pandal’s look and the feel was tried to be kept as real and identical as possible. The environment was also identical to the Shirdi Sai Baba temple.
Well, we congratulate all the winners for their proudful moments during the award ceremony and wish them luck for the next year’s competition. We express our special thanks to Mr. Ashok Matekar & Mrs. Ashwini A. Matekar, and Mrs. Ranjana Rane Das for their continuous support to make this event a huge success.
